Pleaching 101

For years I’ve been reading about British avenues of pleached limes, wondering what exactly they were. You too? The Telegraph has the goods on this tree training technique. Oh, and those limes? Brit for linden trees.

There’s a great line of pleached lindens at Stonecrop Gardens in New York, if you find yourself on the east coast. The director there trained at Kew and with Rosemary Verey, so you’ll see lots of British influence in that garden.
