Do California quail fluff their feathers in your garden?

Learn how to make your garden a haven for our state bird.

My mother feeds several coveys of quail every day at her Peninsula home. Even she will find useful tips in Pam Peirce’s San Francisco Chronicle article.

If you’re in the right spot, go native with your landscaping and hear more of the charming call of the quail.

Charlotte, if I take my computer outside and play the ‘Asemmbly Call’ will more quail come? I hope so. Love them!
When I visited my sister in NZ is when I saw the largest number of quail chicks running after their Mom. Must have been 15 little walnuts on feet, moving so fast. I guess they were brought to NZ to be raised as food back in the day, and escaped!  Now the Kiwis are fond of them, too.
