Doesn’t this just send you into the stratosphere? And it’s clumping, not running, bamboo so it won’t take over your entire town. I’ll let Sean the Bamboo Geek tell you all about ‘Teague’s Blue’ Bamboo. You can order it, or any other specialty bamboo from Sean’s nursery near Sacramento.

It was great to read about ‘Teague’s Blue’ bamboo. This was named for the late garden designer Bill Teague, who was a founding member of the San Diego Horticultural Society. Bill was responsible for installing many gorgeous planted areas at the San Diego Botanic Garden and many private residences, plus for creating many exceptional display gardens at the San Diego County Fair. His great enthusiasm for horticulture and his warmth and generosity of spirit made him one of the most admired and appreciated horticulturists in San Diego County.

Susi, What a gift to read the history of Bill Teague and his namesake. He sounds like a wonderful man. Is there a site I could link to, so that readers could find out even more about him?

Hi Charlotte - Bill was one of most wonderful people I’ve ever known. And so modest that he turned down virtually all requests to honor him (during his lifetime) in any way. Here’s a link to an excellent article about him on the website of the San Diego Botanic Garden, where he was a treasured staff member who probably donated far more time than he would let them pay him for. http://www.sdbgarden.org/BillTeague.htm
